Living in the past is like looking in a rear view mirror; things behind you are placed in front of you. But unlike what you see in a rear view mirror, things from your past exist only in your mind and usually have little bearing on your present. Whoever you once thought you were or thought you had to be may no longer reflect reality, if it ever did.
Who you are today is all that really matters. Take your eyes off the rear view mirage and look at the road in front of you.
Where do you want to go today? Who do you want to be? What do you wish to explore? What would you like to try? What questions would you like to answer?
Maybe an old way of doing things is no longer working, if it ever did. Try a new way.
Maybe an old relationship is no longer strong, if it ever was. Strengthen it or build new ones.
Peel off worn out labels, break some pointless rules, find new ways to do things and new things to do, and while you’re at it, leave a few of those problems from the past in the dust.
