Collect Your Thoughts: Where All Your Thoughts are Leading

by Ken on November 4, 2009

Previously in this series: Create a Guilt Free Blog

A dirty, ugly notebook; an idea jar; and a guilt-free blog – three simple tools for collecting your thoughts.

You can use any one of them, mix them all together, or come up with something of your own creation. A wall of wonder, a file cabinet filled with dreams, a paper bag filled with possibilities. Whatever works for you. And it has to work for you.

You and your thoughts are the main ingredients.

The road where all these thoughts are leading, the one to a more creative life, is a long and winding one, frustrating at times with its collection of circular paths and dead end streets, but also filled with wonder.

If you follow, you’ll be amazed at the things you find. Beautiful things you never noticed before. Strengths and talents you never knew you had. Fascinating people you otherwise would have never met.

It’s exciting to know that the things that will launch you on that journey lie right inside your head: your own sense of wonder and the questions, ideas, and passing thoughts you may have once ignored.

Once you get curious and learn to catch and collect the things that go bump in your head, you won’t be able to help but feel the urge to set forth and find out even more about what you, others, and the world in which you live are all made of.

You’re going to want to start doing something.

And the best way I’ve found to start doing something and keep doing something is to do something daily, which is precisely what we’ll be exploring in the next chapter. Prepare to start stepping.
