You’ll have your chance to quit,
to say to hell with this
and feed it to the trash,
but not today.
And not tomorrow either.
Surely not then, no way,
not after enduring
this day today.
No, save surrender for one
black-hole day when life’s more
bleak and far more hopeless,
but not till then.
Even on that day, you may
take pause and simply ask
what’s so damned enticing
about quitting anyway,
but not till then.

The time to quit is when you are no longer able to quit.
Then you can quite, which of course isn’t possible, at least in bodily form, because you’ll have passed on
