Did you get the message? Lots of people are sending it. Heck, the advertisers, critics, and elitists are in the very business of sending it.
The message is that you’re not enough.
It comes in various forms. You’re not old enough or young enough or rich enough or smart enough or talented enough or attractive enough or ambitious enough or sophisticated enough. Enough, already. You’re plenty.
You’re plenty because you have all you need to begin and continue, to stretch and grow.
The message is bogus. You’d do well to delete it, and it’s easier than you think.
To delete this message, please press onward. And, in the future, you might want to screen your calls.

I love, love, LOVE this! Very clever illustration of the message that is so true for so many people. Thank you for keeping it simple, because it really is.
Ken, great post. I especially love the last sentence about screening your calls. We have a choice about many of the messages we receive and it’s so easy now to be proactive in blocking the source of negative messages from outside sources that do not support us. We need to exercise that choice more often.
And, nice use of your new colored pencils!
Thanks, Alice. Now if we can just learn to screen the bad messages we send ourselves.
I love it too! Thanks for the reminder.

Very true.
A lot of advertisements are written in the problem-solution format. And if there’s no problem, they will point one out anyway. Many problems weren’t even brought to our awareness until there was a product for it.

Short, sweet, to the point, and I love the illustration. I’ve learned to back away and remind myself I don’t need fixing when I notice “you’re not enough” messages. It’s great to see your support for that.

Good practice, Sonia.
Awesome post, Ken.
You have a gift for pointing out truths in a way that’s easily accessible & short enough to remember.
