It’s a little after three in the morning and I should be in bed, but I’ve spent the last few hours getting something done, something on my mind, something far behind, something for which it was time.
It’s a book of poems.
It’s not a great book. It’s not a pretty book. In fact, it’s kind of ugly. But, hey, it’s a book.
It still needs work. I’d like to add more pictures. I’d like to edit some of the poems. I’d like to make a pretty cover for it.
I know I could make it better, but that’s been part of the problem. I was thinking about how to make it better long before I ever made it.
Since I hadn’t made it, I couldn’t make it better; I could only think about it in some vague way.
Now it’s concrete (as concrete as a digital file can be). Yeah, it may be ugly, but it’s there. I can tinker with it. I can add to it. I can do all the things I was trying to think to do to it but couldn’t because there was nothing there to do anything to.
So here it is, the Ugly Edition of Poems from a Spiral Bound Life. If you’d like to see it for yourself, just click the link below.
In the meantime, now that I’ve made the thing, I can honestly say I have better things to do.

Ken, I could not be more thrilled at seeing your book of poems. I think it’s perfectly lovely! One man’s ugly is another man’s just fine? Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Darcy. You’re the bees’ knees.
Thank you, Ken, for sharing your wonderful book of poetry with us! I remember reading some of them before, but some were new. I think “What Makes You Remarkable” is my favorite! I’ve saved your book to read again another time. Many thanks for sharing your gifts with us! Peace for your day.
Thank you. You’ve been a generous supporter for some time now. I’m glad you enjoy the book. I see lots of things I’d like to change, but I’ll make the changes slowly.
Brilliant!!! There is profound wisdom in your headline. “You have to make it” . . . to make it or having any chance of making something good. This is such a key rule for art and writing. Thanks for reminding me and thanks for the post!
Thank you, Patricia. By the way, as a result of following the wisdom of saying yes, which I got from your book, my wife recently joined the local roller derby team. She was inspired by our impromptu visit to a match while we were in Cleveland. Now, if she breaks a bone, we’ll just send you the bill.
Congratulations for your first step, you will walk more fabulously later

I would definitely love to check your book on mildly moments of my day to savor the words
.-= Sandy´s last blog ..Can you not write for the sake of writing? =-.
I have a few in mind, Sandy. It’s been a matter of wrestling with the process, struggling to simplify it. I believe I’ve made some great headway in that area just the past few weeks.
I enjoyed reading some of these to my husband. We especially like the one about the fly and the one about your sister.
Also, I want to thank you for some advice you gave me awhile back when I was struggling with creating a piece of art for submission. I relaxed, let go and got up one morning and started all over with it. I love what I created and appreciate your advice.
Thank you, Terry. I would love to see the piece you created.
The two latest pieces are being considered for a book to be published in November. Another piece is included in a book coming out in September. I’ll keep you posted and share when things are more developed.
Fantastic!
It’s time for a celebration — maybe even a happy dance!
Some day, probably soon, it will be commonplace for you to be publishing a digital book. But it will have started with this huge, very important, very memorable step.
Way to go.
Steve

I hope you’re right, Steve. That’s certainly where my head is these days.
Just a little note to say thank you so much for being so incredibily generous and brave in sharing your book of poems – I have not yet read them all but those I have are great ~ a big well done and huge thank you to you x Detta x
Thanks, Detta. I see lots of little changes I’d like to make, but that’s exactly why I did this. So I could.
I just discovered your blog from a recent guest post you did on Productivity Flourishing, or whatever it’s called, and I find it very interesting and unique. I like what you’re doing and I like your style. I have you bookmarked and will definitely stop by regularly.

Awesome. I’ll be glad to have you stopping by, PJ. And by the way, Good luck!
Wonderful! I have a book of poetry that has been waiting a number of years to become a book. I have been kicking it around lately, and you have inspired me to at least put it together and get it ready to be something that can be improved. Ditto the other book I have begun and the e-course I have created in my mind.
Oh my goodness! I have only just discovered this book. I feel like Christmas has come early. Thanks so much, Ken.
LOL. Thanks, Shirls. I’m going to revamp it, add some pictures, and maybe put a little price on it. So enjoy the freebie.
