Stick With It and Stop Sisyphus-ing Around

by Ken on June 11, 2010

You could give up, but if you do, you know as well as I do that you’ll wind up wanting to start again some day. Then you’ll have to start over from the very bottom. Ugh.

It’s kind of like the story of Sisyphus, the king of Greek mythology, who was forced to roll a boulder up a hill only to watch it roll back down again and then do so over and over for all eternity.

Isn’t it time you stop Sisyphus-ing around and stick with it? Don’t give up. Push until you reach the top. Then you can watch the boulder roll down the other side of the hill rather than back on top of you. You can even follow it to the bottom, jump on top of it, and do a victory dance.

Once that boulder’s up and over, you can start on another one. Up, up, and over. Then over again. Victory after victory.

Sure, it’s still a succession of uphill battles, but it’s not the same one again and again, and there are victories in between. So much better than a defeat set on repeat.

“You could give up, but if you do, you know as well as I do that you’ll wind up wanting to start again some day.”

Exactly :)

Yet those who Sisyphus-ed around again and again, terribly annoyed by their own endless quits can eventually come up with a good, desperate push next time which will probably roll the ball over that beautiful top ;)

Just keep rolling and keep pushing little more than the previous time and you will not forever stay as a Sisyphus~
