The Mild Manifesto

We, the mildly creative and the mildly productive, are a calm, cool collaboration of travelers on a creative journey. We lead lives of quiet inspiration and are nourished by our shared imaginations.

Before we make money, we seek first to make meaning.

Before we attract customers and clients, we seek first to attract friends and kindred spirits.

Before we make a profit, we seek first to make a contribution.

We are musicians and storytellers, writers and artists, thinkers and dreamers, scientists, philosophers, and entrepreneurs.

We are not afraid to compete, but we prefer to collaborate.

We are able to manage, but we prefer to inspire.

We might not be experts, but we are enthusiastic about becoming examples of what we wish to see more of in the world.

We are less about getting fired up and getting things done, and we’re more about settling down and doing the right things.

We are not perfect, but we are patiently persistent, gradually changing, slowly improving, and steadily creating things to share with our families, our friends, and our world.

We accept uncertainty, embrace the unpredictable, and begin anew each moment, grateful for the opportunities our lives provide, in the time we are given, to amaze and be amazed by those we encounter, including ourselves.

We invite you to join us as we make our way into the mild to explore the endless possibilities.

Welcome, Vinoo.

You have to tell me more about houseboats kerala. Is that yours? Did you start it? Looks interesting.

Hello Ken,

Its been long! My apologies for the late reply.

Been busy building my site and trying to make progress in the commercial part of making a website work. Honestly a website is like a story, new additions crop up and editing becomes an important part of the process as creating.

Yes, Its my site and am looking forward to getting it off commercially too. Needs reworking and have scheduled some more additions for late January. I am hosting a `Partners’ page and with your permission will love to have Mildly Manifesto on board.

Do keep in touch. Am known to be bad at keeping in touch and will make amends :-)

Thanks! Have a great day!

Found your blog via a kctherapist tweet. Such peace! Such insight! Such clarity! Psychologist Carl Rogers probably would have called you congruent. If I remember my “Hitchhikers” I’d say you’re a cool frood who knows where his towel is. Referring to part 4 of “How to be Authentic” I would say it is important for people to understand why they find themselves in whatever situation they’re in. After understanding, then they can accept. Finally they can set new goals and move on.

I think being called congruent is just about one of the nicest things I could be called. I think I am, or at least I’m much more congruent than I once was.

Got your welcome tweet (I’m mtw128). Thanks. I do think I’m congruent in my own way and I am trying to inspire in my own very quiet way:

No one has ever accused me of being mild, but your manifesto resonates with me. So. Very. Much. Found you through Sarah Bray’s blog, for which I am quite thankful.

Cheers!

I’m in. This is what I have been doing for the past few years, but you have so nicely put into all into words, into perspective. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of an aspiring fine artist’s heart.

Ditto to Connie’s statement.
I recognized you as a kindred soul even before I read the Manifesto; this confirmed my instincts completely. Do you ever wonder if we are all just cells in a shared being of immense proportion?
or something else completely…

I don’t even know how I arrived at your blog, but I am glad I did. I agree wholeheartedly with your manifesto! I will continue plundering around your site, and will be posting a link to your blog soon. Thank you for making me think again, and realize it’s okay to be me even if it goes against the grain.

I don’t know how you arrived here either, but I’m glad you did. Plunder away. Look forward to hearing from you again.

I just found your blog via Laurie Foley and love your manifesto, esp the “mild” part. Sometimes I feel like I don’t have enough passion for a specific thing so I can make a splash and lots of money. Then found this place & love how you honor the importance of making meaning before money . . .

Thanks, Marie. Laurie’s great.

Ken – very very nice. And I love the way your manifesto itself is an example of “quiet inspiration” instead of a sreaming overdesigned 30 page pdf…

Thank you for the light of words that you have shone on my day. They are just wonderful and capture the very essence of so many things that have been pouring through me of late. Thank you – the quiet place of focus that is most needed at this moment in time. I look forward to reading lots more in the days ahead.

Hi Ken,
You have captured in words the essence of what it is to be a creative being, and how one engages their creativity with other like minded creatives.
Mild is a good term, it’s expresses calmness in the path of moving forward and possibly gathering momentum at times, or as in cycles taking a breathe before the next step.
Thank you,
Joann

I just love your manifesto. It manifests the true spirit of being an artist. And your manifesto says it in words what I am feeling about art. Very Zen indeed.
